Dr. Funie Hsu: Recentering Asian-Americans in American Buddhism

Published on Aug 7, 2017

Rarely heard voices, rarely publicized history.

In this NABA (North American Buddhists Alliance) webinar on racial justice, Dr. Funie Hsu, assistant profess at SJSU and an Asian American female Buddhist, presents material that every Buddhist interested in community on American soil should know about.

Dr. Hsu’s powerpoint presentation is edited into this video so that her key points remain intact while the personal details she spoke from the heart about are deleted. She and other outspoken Asian American Buddhists are being targeted. Dr. Hsu wishes to keep she and her loved ones safe but to shear the veil of invisibility nevertheless.
